Future classic in fantastic condition!
With the VW Phaethon, the Volkswagen core brand wanted to expand its portfolio with a luxury car in 2001 and attack the premium competition from BMW and Mercedes. Unfortunately, this battle was lost before it had really begun. Due to low sales figures, the Phaeton was discontinued in the USA as early as 2006, while in Europe the most expensive VW lasted until 2016. The loss in value of the cars, which often cost over 100,000 euros, is above average; hardly any luxury car is as cheap as the Phaeton as a used car. Nevertheless, the luxury-class Volkswagen is a future classic and offers the driver everything that Volkswagen had to offer back then. The 8 cylinders accelerate the approximately two-and-a-half ton luxury ship to country road speed in 6.9 seconds, but the electronics drop anchor at 250 km/h. Shifting is handled by a six-speed automatic gearbox that transmits power to all four wheels. Despite its enormous power, the Phaeton is not a sporty car; its appearance is too stately and sedate for that. Rather, it is a comfortable touring sedan with sufficient power, space and good equipment.
This Phaeton, painted in deep dark blue, was delivered in 2003 and had a new price of approx. 100,000 € including 25,000 € equipment. The current owner from Herne then took over the vehicle in 2018 with a mileage of approx. 65,000 and has driven the VW regularly since then. Mr. G. always had all work, repairs and service intervals carried out on time. We have all invoices and documents relating to the vehicle.
