Impressive history!
This rare Maserati was first purchased in Italy on December 29th, 1972 and initially registered on January 22nd, 1973 to the Pescara company owned by Armando Cadora, born in 1932. The vehicle remained in the possession of the family until the beginning of November of 2015 and has since then not been registered to another owner. Mr Armando Cadora hails from a very traditional family of farmers and was the last of thirteen children. In the 60’s, the family moved to Pescara (200 kilometres east of Rome). Mr Cadora eventually grew to be one of the most successful businessmen of Italy and gained such popularity he even became the president of the Pescara Calcio football team. In the year 1977 the team achieved so many victories it moved up from the B-league of Italy to the A-league, being the first and only team from the Abruzzi region to accomplish this. In the year 1982, a saddening event shook the family, and from that point on things began to change! As an important and quite wealthy businessman, in 1982 Armando Cadora was kidnapped by a well-known group of terrorists and was only released a month later after a ransom payment by the family. Three whole decades later, in 2008, the mastermind of the kidnapping was arrested after he had been gone underground for years. The group was quite active in the 70’s and was linked with many other criminal organisations that spread terror for years and, through the business of human kidnapping, managed to obtain funds equivalent to about five million Euros.
Shortly after his release, Armando Cadora returned to work, but was so seriously concerned for the safety of his family that from then on bodyguards and armored vehicles defined his daily life. Since then, the Maserati was rarely used and mainly parked in a garage on the property. In fact, this car attracted too much attention in those years in the Pescara area. Everyone knew Mr. Armando Cadora, everyone knew the incident and everyone knew the flashy sports car. Mr. Cadora unfortunately did not fully recover from the traumatizing event and died in 1986 at the age of only 54. His beloved wife Miria died in 1993, and their only daughter, then 23 years old, was the one of four siblings to take over the business from her late father. She continued to run the business following her father's example and even won the battle against all odds, bringing her father's neglected business back out of bankruptcy. Armando Cadora, more than any other Italian, played a major role in the creation of several of the most successful companies and thus in Italy's economic boom. The Maserati has now been in a collection in Germany for several years. Now this piece of Italian automotive history is for sale, and with a very moving history.
Standard equipment on this Maserati Indy includes a dual adjustable steering column, leather upholstery, power windows, the fog lights, a heated rear window, headrests and a clock on the dashboard. Power steering was ordered as an option, as was the radio.
