restored condition!
Ford had a massive dominance in the light truck industry in the pre-war period. The market-moving introduction of the flathead V8 engine in 1932 had impacted the truck line-up and sales reached record highs. It took until the post-war years for Dodge and Chevy to catch up and, in Chevy's case, even overtake Ford in the light truck market. However, the 1940 and 1941 Ford V8 pickups were the last of the car-derived pickups to leave the Ford production line and also the last pickup series before the F model series. Their unmistakable design gave them a timeless and classic pre-war elegance that would not be seen in trucks after 1942. From this point onwards, the design of pickups in the truck industry became much more robust and practical. The Ford Pick Up was also offered for sale in Canada. This blue metallic painted pick-up from 1940 has been partially restored by its last owner in Canada over the last few decades. Due to its advanced age, the owner then sold the vehicle to one of our regular customers from northern Germany. He imported the vehicle in 2022 and only drove the vintage pick-up a few kilometres. The vehicle still has its first engine to this day. After the import, the current owner carried out an extensive service including a spark plug change.
The American 8 cylinders bubble and hiss through the 80-year-old bodywork and definitely make the car sound much more powerful than it actually is. Although in 1940, with 100 hp, you were certainly not one of the weakest road users. If you want to live out your American dream on the country road, this is the car for you. Lots of fuel consumption, lots of sound, lots of loading space, little common sense.
