We were lucky enough to find this wonderful example of the Austin Healey MK III and could not resist! The first owner was Mr. Galask, who kept the car in Iowa City as a collector's item and drove it very little. On 16.02.1994 Mr. Galask sold the car to Mr. Freese. The latter also resided in the state of Iowa, in the city of Allison. In 2002, the vehicle then crossed the Atlantic Ocean to be restored in the Netherlands. The Austin Healey was professionally rebuilt with no technical defects. The process was documented in detail and is fully traceable, with available photos and documents. The car stayed there for two years until it was finally sold to Gelsenkirchen on 08.04.2005. The car also changed hands once in Gelsenkirchen when its registration was changed on 29.08.2012.
The Austin Healey MK III discovered by us can hardly be surpassed in originality and history! The vehicle was produced in October 1965 and first registered on 01.07.1966 with the destination Forth Worth in the USA. There this sporty oldtimer spent a large part of its time well protected and without much driving distance. This also caught on with the next owners, which is why it was only driven an incredible 2,394 miles after restoration! As such, this beautiful car is considered to have just been driven in, which of course makes it a unique piece that is hard to find. The originality of this car is only enhanced by its wonderfully documented history. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, as well as all original documents are available.
The Austin-Healey 3000 is a roadster produced from 1959 to 1967 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) in Longbridge, England. During its production period, the 3000 won many European rallies and is still often entered in vintage rallies today. The Austin-Healey 3000 MK III (BJ8) was introduced in 1964 as the successor to the 3000 MK I and 3000 MK II. With this 150 hp model, after 13 years, the instrument panel was revised, which since then was made of wood. A lockable glove compartment and a radio speaker integrated into the center console completed the transformation into a comfort convertible. The Austin-Healey had disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes on the rear wheels. The body shells were produced at Jensen Motors. BMC ceased production of the 3000 during 1967 in favor of the Triumph TR5.
