The era of the Duetto and the hippies' Summer of Love. Could there have been a better time for the Alfa Spider? Probably not. The shape of the first Alfa Spider was created under company senior Battista Pininfarina and is still considered by many to be the most beautiful Alfa Spider shape ever produced.
The tapered rear and the flat front reminded the Italians of the bone of a ten-armed cephalopod, which is why they called the car Osso di Sepia, octopus bone, or, more biologically precise, shoulder. A name that the Alfa was fortunately spared in this country. For many, the nickname "Rundheck" is more appealing and memorable. Although many would have expected a shape similar to the body of the Giulietta Spider when it was launched in 1966, this model is one of the most popular Spider models today. This dark blue Alfa Spider was purchased by the then owner in 1987 and immediately underwent an extensive restoration. The vehicle was then completely painted in 1991 and subsequently registered. In the mid-2000s, the vehicle took part in a number of rallies and was only used for individual day trips from 2016 onwards. The entire restoration process is well documented in an extensive photo book and original invoices.
