This exceptionally good-looking GT Bertone coupé is new to our stock and was first registered privately in January of 1972 by Mr Antonio Bertone in the town of Cosenza (Calabria). In January of 1979 he sold the coupé to Mr Giovanni Caravona, born in 1949. The sports coupé remained in his possession for almost 30 years, and even though he hardly ever actually drove the Alfa, he could not bear to part with it. Mr Caravona suddenly passed away at the end of summer, 2012. An acquaintance, taking care of Mr Caravona’s inheritance, sold the vehicle in October of 2012 to the Alfa Romeo expert Agostino de Martino, born in Switzerland in 1960 and now residing in a small town in the southwest of Rome. Mr de Martino used the vehicle almost exclusively for vintage car rallies.

Even fifty years after its construction, our GT 1300 Junior remains iconic in its design, still communicating the Italian way of life of that era. One senses that Alfa Romeo were at the top of their game when this smart vehicle was built. The sports coupé features one of most robust engines in existence, remaining unchanged in its construction over many decades and built into thousands of Alfas. Other features for this series include the 5 gear transmission and the all-round wheel disc brake.

Conclusion

Here we not only have one of the most gorgeous exemplars on the market, but also an unrestored model with a verifiable history. Only the outer shell was repainted in 2013, and it’s nice to report that there is nothing to find fault with from a technical angle. We will happily deliver the Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior to its new owner with 24 months of seller warranty, and we are relieved to see that our exemplar did not fall victim to subsequent changes such as a larger engine or a lowering with non-authentic aluminum wheels. Aside from the outer varnish, everything here remains in its orighinal state, and we are pretty certain that the mileage is genuine.
